For more than 35 years, Chelgrave Contracting has been providing quality workforce solutions to a broad cross-section of Blue Chip clients. During this time Chelgrave has developed an enviable reputation as the expert in supplying a quality workforce that exceeds the client’s expectations in both temporary and permanent rolls.

“Our experience gives clients access to industry experts who have the ability to hit the ground running, integrate into different work teams and environments, and apply their skills,” said Barry Mitchell, National General Manager. “From boilermakers to civil engineers, riggers to draftspersons, at Chelgrave we’re committed to ensuring clients and employees are matched correctly.”

While other Labour Hire companies have broadened their reach to include hospitality staff, etc., Chelgrave has remained focused on what it knows and does best: providing skilled trades and technical staffing solutions. “There is no doubt that this is why we have become the experts in providing all Labour Solutions,” explained Barry. “You won’t find us looking for administration staff or unqualified labour.”

Case in point is the ongoing relationship that Chelgrave enjoys with the team at Australian Paper, providing maintenance shutdown solutions at the plant.

“As part of the maintenance shutdown services we have completed in the past, we have provided not only skilled tradespeople to complete the work, but also planners and supervisors to ensure the projects were completed on time, on budget, and with minimum fuss,” explained Barry. “We have just completed working with Australian Paper assisting with the planning and completion of their annual shutdown in May 2015.”

“We have been managing major shutdowns for decades, and it’s great that Australian Paper has recognised our experience in this area,” Barry said. “Once the planning was complete, our team turned its attention to resourcing and executing maintenance activities over the shutdown. This included tasks such as supervising, staffing, arranging for parts and other supplies, and maintaining Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety matters.”

Chelgrave has a rigorous safety management framework and has fostered a ‘Zero Harm’ philosophy throughout its long and successful history. On all sites, stringent safety plans are in place, which include: regular meetings with clients and employees, including initial site safety audits; regular toolbox talks; incident reporting; and, on the rare occasion that an employee is injured, return to work coordination.

“Our Certified Systems, Quality ISO 9001, OH&S AS 4801, and Environmental ISO 14001 accreditation really add value, focus and support to Australian Paper during critical shutdowns, and throughout the year,” Barry explained.
Whether it’s a new project to build a bridge, or an existing manufacturing facility undergoing maintenance activities, Chelgrave has positioned itself as the market leader in providing skilled trade and technical staffing solutions.
